2/5/2007 - Pacific Union REALTOR® Linda Harrison Named President of FramelineBy Karen Monroe
Nonprofit Media Arts Group to Thrive Under 2007 Leadership
San Francisco, CA – January 29, 2007 – Linda Harrison is a REALTOR® with a social conscious. A consistent top producer in the luxury and investments marketplace at Pacific Union GMAC Real Estate, Harrison is now the 2007 president of the board of directors of Frameline, the only nonprofit in the country dedicated to funding, exhibition, distribution and promotion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media arts.
“As Frameline enters into a period of tremendous growth and unprecedented opportunity within the world of LGBT media, we are truly fortunate to have an experienced and visionary leader such as Linda at the helm,” said Matt Westendorf, managing director at Frameline. Founded in 1981, Frameline’s mission is to strengthen the diverse LGBT community and further its visibility by supporting and promoting a broad array of cultural representations and artistic expression in film, video and other media arts.
With her partner Ellen Anderson, also an involved and top real estate practitioner at Pacific Union, Harrison launched The Harrison Team, specializing in San Francisco luxury homes and investment properties throughout the world. The Harrison Team offers a full array of real estate services and investment strategies designed to compliment client portfolios for the long term. Together, the Team works hard to educate and assist clients through the often challenging and complicated real estate process.
“As a longtime supporter and board member of Frameline, I am deeply committed to leading the creative organization to the next level of business practices and success,” explained Harrison, 54. She brings to Frameline a background in senior management working with national Fortune 100 companies, including Eastman Kodak Company. She is a board member of both the San Francisco and California Associations of REALTORS® and the Chinese Real Estate Association of America, and has been honored by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and Assemblymen Mark Leno and Leland Yee for her dedicated leadership in advancing the issues of affordable housing and property owners’ rights.
As president of the Frameline board, Harrison will guide the dynamic organization to continue to enhance its current programs and services that serve to empower LGBT artists and filmmakers. These include:
San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival – With annual attendance of nearly 70,000, the Festival is the longest-running, largest and most widely recognized LGBT film exhibition event in the world.
Frameline Distribution – The only educational distributor solely dedicated to LGBT film and video. Frameline's collection of more than 200 films is the preeminent LGBT media resource for educators, librarians, film festivals and community groups, and serves as an important bridge between independent filmmakers and their audiences.
Filmmaker Support – Since 1990, more than 80 films and videos have been completed with assistance from the Frameline Film and Video Completion Fund. In 2007, Frameline will grant a total of $40,000 in Completion Fund Awards. Awards are made annually and provide much needed support to filmmakers for their final editing and lab work. Frameline also supports filmmakers with the largest cash awards of any LGBT film festival in the world: the $10,000 First Feature Award, the $10,000 Best Documentary Award and three $2,500 audience choice awards.
